Evan Kidera - Co-Founder & CEO of Señor Sisig
Evan Kidera was born and raised in San Francisco, a city whose history and diversity shaped how he sees the world. His father, a Japanese immigrant and sushi chef, owned a restaurant in the city. His mother, an artist from Memphis, brought a completely different creative lens. Between the two—and San Francisco itself—Evan was shaped by hustle, creativity, and a deep respect for food.
But early on, he wasn’t chasing the kitchen—he was drawn to the business behind it.
That mindset took him to San Francisco State University, where he studied Entrepreneurial Business and Asian American Studies before earning his MBA. While still in grad school, he saw an opportunity to build something special: Señor Sisig.
In 2010, Evan and his longtime friend and chef partner Gil Payumo bought a used food truck off Craigslist and got to work. No blueprint, no real experience—just vision, grit, and something to prove.
Señor Sisig was born on the streets of San Francisco—bold, proud, and unmistakably its own. What started as a single food truck quickly built a following, growing alongside the city and helping push Filipino food into the mainstream. Today, it’s expanded into multiple trucks and brick-and-mortar locations, becoming a staple of the Bay Area food scene and earning national recognition.
Through it all, Evan has stayed focused on building something bigger than just a restaurant—creating something lasting.
In 2024, he was inducted into the San Francisco State University Alumni Hall of Fame, recognizing both his entrepreneurial journey and the impact Señor Sisig has had on the city.
Today, he continues to lead Señor Sisig forward while also embracing his role as a husband and father—driven by the same goal that’s been there from the start: to build something meaningful, have fun doing it, and leave a legacy that lasts.
